Inspired by the works of French artist, Marcel Duchamp, Terai investigates the idea of authorship, ownership, and art production in the digital age in his new series of paintings. The paintings, purchased over an online marketplace, is encased in an unadorned acrylic box, which is defiantly signed by Terai. His decontextualized paintings addresses the ambiguity within artistic production and sheds light on how meaning can vary depending on its given context.
50 years later, Duchamp’s readymade sculptures are still a testament to the importance of challenging conventional notions of how art is defined. Cyber Duchamp is an exhibition where we can explore the role of the artist and how the digital sphere contributes to artist’s creative process.
